For mitigation of low water crossings and bridge replacement projects, JMEC has solutions.
JMEC has been Prime Design Consultant for the China Flat Bridge Replacement funded by FEMA. Work performed including field visits, inspection services, structural design, civil and roadway design, geotechnical investigation, bridge hydraulic analysis, preparation of construction documents and cost estimating.
The original steel bridge was washed away by the 1997 Flood. The replacement bridge was built at the same site, except that the bridge is longer and is built with a 125-ft prefabricated steel truss. The profile of the bridge is raised with sufficient free board above the 100-year flood. Slope protection is added to mitigate future bridge scour.
